In the third grade, I got a B in conduct for talking too much. In retrospect, I was probably talking about books.

Reading has been my favorite topic of conversation for as long as I can remember. There’s nothing I love more than cozying up with a giant pile of books, giving them a big old sniff, then gushing about the characters (and the smell) to anyone who will listen. Since it’s sort of frowned upon to walk up to just anyone and say, “Rochester vs. Darcy–GO!”, I started Book Perfume in 2014 as a way to share my love of all things literary with my fellow bibliophiles.
Book nerds LOVE uniting.
(For the record, Rochester.)

Of course, every story needs a good sidekick, and that’s where Ollie Twist the intern comes in. Ollie keeps the Book Perfume house in order by organizing my library, keeping my lap warm, and providing invaluable feedback when necessary.

My literary tastes are very much like my fondness for cupcakes; I’m partial to certain flavors, but I also like to sample everything on the shelf. My personal favorites are historical fiction, contemporary novels with humor and heart, and classic lit. It stems from growing up on equal parts March sisters and Wakefield twins.
Sometimes I review new books, sometimes I revisit childhood favorites, and sometimes I simply swoon about dreamy heroes, butt-kicking heroines, and the amazing authors who create them.
And sometimes I talk about cupcakes.
I hope I can help you find your next favorite read, and if you have a recommendation for me, I’d love to hear from you! You can email me at bookperfumesteph@gmail.com and you can also find me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. There’s nothing as fun as dishing about books!
Stephanie Burns is a writer obsessed with her dog, pop culture, cupcakes, and the smell of old books. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College and wishes she could get a PhD in Jamie Fraser.
Ollie Twist is her intern. Like his namesake, he was rescued from a rough and tumble life and is now enjoying the lap of luxury (and laps in general). He is a firm believer in judging a book by how good its cover tastes. He chronicles his adventures on Instagram @ollietwistthebeagle.
